WORKSHOP I

I presented a  workshop yesterday (Saturday) to a small group of dedicated  painters at the Caliente Depot art room. Although it was a little on the warm side, everyone produced some fine paintings. We've concluded that we need to get together more often. Thanks to Barbara for making the necessary arrangements!

BAKER CREEK II

Another shot of Baker Creek which is located in the Great Basin National Park. Great Basin National Park lies on the Utah/Nevada boundary east of Ely, Nevada. You can also find Lehman Cave in the park. Rangers take daily 90 minute tours of the cave (several a day.) Very interesting place.  (22" x 15")   $95.00

ABANDONED

The only life I  noticed in the vicinity of this old barn was a marmot that scampered toward the open door when I approached.  (22" x 15")

SPRING VALLEY MUSEUM

Once an early settler's home it is now a museum of sorts. I say that because a few years ago someone broke into it and stole several artifacts that were on display there. The small museum is located in a remote area and, despite the seurity precautions, someone took advantage of the situation and made off with some valuable antiques.  (22" x 15")  No longer in my collection.

HIGHWAY 93, FRONT STREET MAGIC

Commonly referred to as Front Street, this byway is actually U.S. Highway 93. Highway 93 begins in southern Arizona and extends from there all the way to Canada. Along the route the highway passes through the small city of Caliente, Nevada. Within the city a string of 32 houses was built along the highway. I've included these three in the painting. (15" x 22") No longer in my collection.

GOT MY ATTENTION

Around the corner and there it was.  This scene is located along the Mt Nebo Scenic Loop. This route is quite beautiful in the fall when foliage colors are in transition. Some parts of the drive make me a little squeamish (heights intimidate me) but it's well worth the drive. Mt Nebo Scenic Loop is located in central Utah. The route begins in Payson City and ends near the city of Nephi.(22" x 15")

The road, I discovered when I got there, was closed 14 miles ahead, barely half way to the lake. Maybe I'll try it again this fall.
